Hotel Orquídea

The hotel isn't safe. My belongings that I left in the hotel room were search through, while I was sightseeing. My money was stolen. Hotel staff hadn't do anything about the theft, except for ensuring me that room service is reliable and trust worthy. There's only one camera at the reception desk, so security in the hotel is poor. Except for that the hotel is mediocre. Breakfast are not varied, every day the same food is served. Only advantages are clean rooms and open rooftop with great views at Funchal and hotel localisation - close to city centre.

The worst rooms i ever see in my Hospitality Carrier. My room 112 was ex locker see photis below luggage you couldn't open ants was coming from the door inside the room the window was for decoration smell in all the room was bad.... Bathroom you couldn't enter the toilet bowl was blocked by the door see photos below towel was only one. Pilow was only one on the bed too. Shame for a city hotel i will not recommend not even for a cup of tea or coffee. Food dinner on 6th floor restaurant badddddd The seith fish like a stone and thensauce was just balsamic cream...... Shame.......

Great budget hotel. Location is superb - right in the centre of Funchal and walking distance from the cable car, the old town, the port, etc. There is a public car park opposite the hotel that charges €6 per 24 hours. Rooms are basic but spotlessly clean. Beds are comfy and bathrooms are clean and functional. The included breakfast is on the whole very good but for whatever reason the fruit juices are heavily watered down! It’s such a petty thing that spoils the experience. Staff seemed friendly. I’d stay here again, especially given the incredibly low rates. Top tip: In the evening head up to the restaurant on the 6th floor, buy some drinks (very reasonably priced) and take them up to the roof terrace - the view is wonderful and it’s a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Funchal.

Decent hotel, but could use a renovation. Very rude kitchen restaurant staff who hassled us on 2 separate breakfast days and made us feel uncomfortable returning. Desk staff doesn’t greet guests upon entry which is very awkward and odd. The panoramic view of the city from the restaurant and rooftop is stunning. Not a hotel I would stay at again.
